Mansion Mayhem with Cap'n Tony
By now many of you have seen these images from posts on Facebook.
I just wanted to take time in the blog to elaborate and publicly thank
everyone involved who made it so much fun.
I first thought about using this house for a concept shoot last summer
when we shot there for a wedding. I fell in love with the place immediately.
I approached the owner,Tony about using his home for a model shoot and he
seemed reasonably receptive to the idea, so I pursued it.
Tony is an amazing man with great vision for the building.
One Hundred years ago the Mansion was a Brothel, so I decided to go with that theme
and run with it. I wanted authentic period costumes but had no good leads to find them.
Then I remembered that our close friend Peter Bisuito from "The Wedding Producers"
video studio http://www.theweddingproducer.com/ is active in local theater productions.
He contacted Kim Hicks from the Aurora Players theater http://www.auroraplayers.org/
She was so kind to hook us up with the beautiful costumes you see on the models.
Thank you so much to Peter and Kim for making the shoot so special with such a
striking wardrobe.
Next came securing models for the day. I have a very successful history working with
Elizabeth Ann, so asking her was a no brainer. Liz is so easy to work with. She is the
most intuitive model I've ever worked with. We often times share the same brain, with Liz
transitioning into a pose before I even ask.
Snjezana gets credit for choosing Kelly as our second model. She worked with her on our
Swimsuit shoot in the Bahamas last year with the Buffalo Jills Cheerleaders. She fell in love with her then and thought she would be a perfect fit with Liz.
Kelly is one of those girls that goes through a complete metamorphosis as soon as she steps in front of the camera. The camera has a true love affair with her. Kelly, like Liz is always one step
ahead, which allows the shoot to flow effortlessly. You can physically feel the energy level in the
room rise working with these two.
Thanks Ladies, you are true superstars in our world!
A project like this isn't possible without assistants.
For this we turned to good friends and biggest fans, James and Rachel Fry.
Actually Rachel volunteered their services as she so often does. :)
They were a huge help with lighting, as Jimmy carried studio lights from room to room
and held diffuser panels and reflectors in place.
Rachel kept us laughing with her often unintentional sense of humor.
We love you so much Rachel. You are truly our biggest fan!
Tony was a very accommodating and gracious host. He let us come in and literally take over his
house for five hours and even bought us pizza!
You're the man Tony. THANK YOU so much from the bottom of my heart.
This was such a rewarding shoot for me personally, I can never thank you guys enough
for helping me out.
One more time, here are a few of my favorites.
You be the Judge.
Sometimes being roped with the responsibility of making someone look good
is a thankless task. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or for a photographer
in the interpretation there of. I really felt good about this senior session. I
felt the images really flattered the subject. The session was a lengthy one,
about two and a half hours with SEVEN wardrobe changes. I spent an entire
day in post-production after the shoot.
Now she says she wants all her money back because she hates all of them.
I know it's impossible to make everyone happy ALL of the time, but these
photos FLATTER this girl. Believe it. So, my question to my fellow photographic
colleagues and friends is:
What do you think? Did I fulfill the terms of the contract by providing flattering photo-
graphs that are in focus and well lit, or does she have a case and deserves her money back.

Ringing in 2010 in Jersey.
On New Years Eve we were priveledged to travel to land of "The Situation" and "Snookie", yes New Jersey to shoot the wedding of Maryellen and Matthew Jaqusak. We were blessed with
great weather on both travel days and Christmas card snow on the wedding day. Maryellen and Matt and their families were wonderful to work with and we can't thank them enough for inviting us down to share in the celebration. A lot of my favorite shots received a PG-13 rating,
so at the request of the bride and groom I won't share them on the blog. I will post my favorite
portraits of Maryellen taken at the house prior the the ceramony. The camera was smitten by her beauty as you can see. -Jeff

The Best of Melanie and Jay
This post is past due. I'm having trouble keeping up this summer.
Anyway, this is how I spent my Birthday 2009, with Melanie and Jay at the church that Ani built (Ashbury Hall). We absolutly LOVE these two. I had a great time, It was a special Birthday to be sure! Thank you Melanie and Jay for making the day special for us too! Here are a few of my favs. Check out the rest of the Wedding by clicking on the header. 
The trashing of Brittneys Prom dress.
Tuesday morning we had a little fun. One of our favorite models Brittney agreed to trash one of her prom dresses. So we went hiking and found this very cool place. My assistants Boban and Drew had double duty. They were my Sherpas, packing in all our gear for the shoot over rugged terrain, and they also were the lighting technicians for the job. Drew working the reflector and Boban manning the remote strobe. They both did a great job (although Drew did end up on his butt a few times)! Brittney(the Haunting of Alice Rose post) was her amazing self, doing whatever it took to get the shot including sitting in ice cold water for about 30 minutes. Thanks Britt for always gettin it done and looking great along the way. Here are a few hi lites from the project, including this first image of yours truly shot by Boban with one hand while holding a backpack and standing on slippery shale in an inch of water. Not bad.
